We live in a time where you can publish your own book and make it available to readers worldwide. I know; I've done it four times. And make no mistake, self-publishing is a difficult process, but if you're tenacious about what you want to achieve, you will get results.
I have been where you are now: at the end of your writing journey and at the start of your self-publishing journey. The first question you need to ask yourself is: "What do I want to achieve from my self-publishing experience?" It's a simple question, but a very important one. For example, there's a big difference in printing a memoir and making it available to a small audience of family members, or wanting to print thousands of copies of a sci-fi epic and setting off on a cross-country promotional tour. You need to carefully factor in time, cost, desire, and expectation. Self-publishing is a commitment, and like everything else in life, the more time you dedicate to it, the better the result you will achieve.
